The Lega is a 157 km long river in northeastern Poland . The greater part of the river is in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

The Lega rises from a dozen springs in the area of the Jezioro Czarne (German Black Sea ). From the topography of the area, which was shaped by the last ice age, the Lega river connects a chain of lakes: starting in Jezioro Czarne, the Jezioro Oleckie Wielkie (Treuburg Lake) near the town of Olecko , the Jezioro Olecko Małe (Herzogshöher Lake) , the Jezioro Skomętno (Skomantener See) and the Jezioro Staćkie (Statzer See) .

The Lega river branches out over an area of 1011.1 km² into a number of tributaries and tributaries, which in turn have their own names. The Lega section from Jezioro Staćkie to Jezioro Selmęt Wielki (Great Sellmentsee) is also known as Malkin ( Malkien or Malkien River ).

The section of the Lega behind the Staćkie and immediately following Jezioro Rajgrodzkie (Lake Raygrod) , where it crosses the border of Masuria, the former East Prussia , to Podlachia , is called Jegrznia . This then flows into the Ełk (Lyck) . From here the water flows into the stream of Biebrza , the middle of a large conservation area, southeast of the city Grajewo is.
