Leila Luliana da Costa Vieira Lopes (born February 26, 1986 in the province of Benguela ) is an Angolan beauty queen and Miss Angola 2011. On September 12, 2011, she represented her country in the election of the Miss Universe in São Paulo , Brazil , and was miss Universe 2011.

Miss Angola

Leila Lopes has Cape Verdean ancestors. However, her parents were born in Angola. Lopes is 1.79 meters tall. On December 18, 2010 in Luanda she won the Miss Angola title against 20 other finalists , as well as the Miss Fotogen title . As a prize for first place, Leila Lopes received a vehicle, a jewel, a complete cloakroom and US $ 2,500 donated by the Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA).

Miss Universe

On September 12, Leila Lopes represented Angola in the Miss Universe 2011 election and was able to prevail over the competition. She is the successor of the Mexican Ximena Navarrete , Miss Universe 2010.

Allegations of forgery of documents and bribery

Lopes claims to be a business student in the UK , where she was elected Miss Angola UK on October 8, 2010 . It is believed, however, that the promoter of the event brought her to the UK to take part in the elections, although she had not previously lived there, which in turn was a condition for participation in the competition. These circumstances have been sharply criticized by the Angolan community in Great Britain.
