The top of the ladder in the Lechtal Alps is 2750 m above sea level. A. the highest mountain of the Medriol and is located in the Austrian state of Tyrol .
Location and surroundings
The top of the ladder is the main summit of the Medriol, a subgroup of the central Lechtal Alps that is bordered by the Madautal in the west and the Gramaiser Tal in the east. The summit is at the same distance (as the crow flies 10 km) from the northern Lech Valley ( Häselgehr ) and the southern Inn Valley ( Landeck ). The closest places are the small mountain villages of Gramais , about 5 km to the north, and Madau , about 5 km to the west.
The solid mass of the head tip is made of two peaks, represented by the conductor-lip are separated. The secondary peak to the north of the saddle is called the Kleine Leiterspitze , the southern main summit either just Leiterspitze or, to better distinguish it from the secondary summit, also the Große Leiterspitze . Both peaks are visible from Gramais.
Ascent
From the valley town of Gramais you can reach the Brannweinboden in the south and then turn south-west across the Sack Valley to the Alblitjoch. From there you can walk in a south-easterly direction to the scree and steep ladder gap, and from there you can climb gently to the main summit of the ladder top. The Leiterscharte can not only be reached on the route described from the northwest from the Alblitjoch, but also from the southeast via the Bittrich.
Instead of starting from Gramais, the top of the ladder can also be climbed via the Württemberger Haus as a base. You can get back to the Leiterscharte either via the Leiterjöchl or the Bitterscharte.
The path requires climbing ability in grade I (UIAA) , a head for heights and, in particular, surefootedness in the Schrofen area .
