The Heartless Rescuer is a 1941 American animated short film directed by Clyde Geronimi .
action
It is winter, there is snow and Pluto pulls a sack from the brook near his house in which it meows. A kitten appears from the sack and Pluto is disappointed. He means to stay away from the animal and goes into Mickey Mouse's house . The kitten follows and is greeted enthusiastically by Micky. Pluto feels set back and soon angels and devils in Pluto form try to convince the dog of the advantages and disadvantages of the kitten.
The cat is allowed to drink milk from Pluto's bowl and play with a ball. The devil wins the conflict and Pluto is the cat before the fishbowl mouse family. The cat immediately wants to catch the goldfish. The glass falls over and lands on Pluto's head. Mickey appears and the goldfish, asked by Micky who was the culprit, points to Pluto. Mickey throws Pluto out.
The devil appears again and is at a loss. Suddenly the kitten chases his ball out of the house and ends up in the fountain not far from the house due to several unfortunate coincidences. It threatens to drown and finally the angel wins Pluto's decision: He pulls the cat up, but ends up in the well himself. Micky, startled by the noise, initially only sees the cat at the fountain and takes it in - only then does he discover Pluto in the fountain, which has now frozen into a block of ice. Pluto is slowly thawing in the house. When the dog comes to, the kitten gratefully licks it off and Pluto is happy. The angel appears and sums it up: Those who help animals are always rewarded.
