Elise Helene "Leni" Oslob , later Höfer-Oslob (born November 9, 1909 in Leipzig; † August 20, 1949 there ) was a German foil fencer , German champion and world champion with the team. She fought at TSV 1867 Leipzig .

successes

Oslob learned fencing in Leipzig and was a member of the TuSB 1867 Leipzig . Several fencing trainers were active in Leipzig in the prewar period and produced a number of successful fencers.

She won a total of three medals with the women's floret team at the European Championships , which at that time were also open to participants outside Europe and are considered the forerunners of the World Championships, which were first held in 1937. In 1934 she was second in Warsaw together with Hedwig Haß , Henni Jüngst and Olga Oelkers , in 1935 the same team won the bronze medal at the international championships in Lausanne . In San Remo 1936 the German quartet finally won gold, ahead of Hungary and Austria. She also took part in an international match against Denmark in 1935 and at the 1937 World Championships in Paris.

In 1937 Oslob was German champion in women's singles, in 1934 , 1940 , 1941 and 1943 she took second place, in 1932 and 1935 she was third.

At the TuSB 1867 Leipzig anniversary tournament in 1932, Oslob came third. In 1929 she won the Central German women's fencing tournament in Dresden, and in 1935 the Torgau fencing tournament. In 1937 she won an international tournament in Graz.

Her husband, Kurt Heinz Höfer, died in World War II. They married in Leipzig in 1940. Leni Höfer-Oslob died as a widow of abdominal cancer at the age of only 40.
