Leo Cherniavsky (born August 30, 1890 in Odessa , † September 18, 1974 in Cape Town ) was a Canadian violinist of Ukrainian origin.

Cherniavsky came from a very musical family. Together with his younger brothers Jan and Mischel he made his debut in 1901 as the Cherniavsky Trio .

In the years 1901 to 1906 he completed an extremely successful European tour. In 1905 his family emigrated to Austria and settled in Vienna .

He was granted Canadian citizenship in 1922, but only lived in that country for a short time. After the Cherniavsky Trio's farewell concert in Salt Lake City in 1934, Cherniavsky settled in Australia. There he began a solo career and also worked a lot for radio.

In 1958, Cherniavsky and his brothers went on another tour through South Africa as a trio, but could no longer build on their earlier successes.
