Leo Victor Fromm

Leo Victor Fromm (* 16th July 1924 ; † 27. July 2001 ) was a founding editor of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (New OZ).

Life

Leo Victor Fromm came from an established Osnabrück publishing family . He was a son of Leopold Fromm (1879–1959) and his wife Hanna Fromm, geb. Baroness von Morsey-Picard (1892–1928), and a grandson of Antonius Fromm . In 1959 Leo Victor Fromm took over the management of the “Neue Tagespost” from his father. He founds the printing and publishing house Fromm. In 1967, as the publisher of the “Neue Tagespost”, he merged on an equal basis with the Osnabrücker Tageblatt of the colleague publisher Meinders & Elstermann to form the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. In addition, he managed the Fromm group of companies with its extensive international activities. The Fromm Foundation , established by Leo Victor Fromm, who was a friend of the fine arts, promoted and promotes numerous cultural developments in Germany and in particular in the Osnabrück / Emsland region. After his death, Axel Gleie took over the management of the Fromm group in 2003. Gleie left the company at the end of 2009.

In April 2003, the news magazine “ Focus ” reported on a month-long dispute between the Fromm heirs and Gleie's predecessor Annette Harms-Hunold, who, according to the “Focus” report, was Fromm's “alleged lover”. The magazine referred, among other things, to a decision by the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court with the file number 5 W 171/02. The court found that Harms-Hunold had "removed" items of furniture from an apartment from Fromm in Sierre (Switzerland) without taking the heirs into account . "Obviously, Annette Harms-Hunold treated the furnishings like their own furniture", so the conclusion of the "Focus".

He was married to Margarete Fromm, b. Brandenburg (1927–2018), a daughter of the Chief Public Prosecutor Hermann Brandenburg (1868–1940) and his wife Carla Brandenburg, b. Freiin Spiegel von und zu Peckelsheim (1882–1967). She was a granddaughter of the politician Carl Brandenburg and sister of Bishop Hubertus Brandenburg . The marriage has two children.

Fromm had been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Sauerlandia Münster since 1947 .
