Leon Parker
Leon Parker (born August 21, 1965 in White Plains , New York ) is an American jazz drummer .
biography
Parker began playing the drums at the age of 11 and enjoyed a classical education in his youth. Under the guidance of Barry Harris , he devoted himself to the study of jazz. His debut album, he took with Harvie S on. He went on tour with Sheila Jordan and performed a. a. with Kenny Barron . His wife Lisa is a flautist who toured Portugal and Spain with him in 1989. He is known for reducing his drum kit; sometimes he only worked with cymbals. Currently (2018) he plays in a trio with Peter Bernstein and Doug Weiss .
His best-selling album to date, Awakening , was recorded on Columbia Records in 1998 and made it into the Top 20 of Billboard's Top Jazz Albums .
