Leonard is a city in Fannin County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located on US Highway 69 in northeast Texas, in the southwest of the county, is 42 km north of Oklahoma and has a total area of 5.1 km² without any significant water surface.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,846 people lived here in 683 households and 497 families. The population density was 361.8 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 84.99% White, 5.53% African American, 1.90% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 5.69% other ethnic groups. About 1.79% were mixed race and 7.85% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 683 households, 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.9% of these were married couples living together. 13.8% were single mothers and 27.2% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were single households and there were people living in 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.16.
30.2% of the population were under 18 years old, 8.9% 18 to 24, 27.7% 25 to 44, 19.4% 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 93.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 82.8 men.
