Leonard Küßner (born November 23, 1993 in Gengenbach ) is a German composer , orchestrator and musician .

Life

Leonard Küßner was born in Gengenbach in 1993 and grew up in Offenburg . At the age of seven he received his first composition lessons, accompanied by training on the piano, classical percussion and music theory . After graduating from high school , he studied film music and sound design at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg from 2014 to 2017 . Workshops and recordings at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg , the Musikhochschule Mannheim under Joerg Reiter as well as seminars with Florian Sitzmann ( Sons Mannheims ) and orchestral recordings deepened his education.

Leonard Küßner lives and works in Berlin .

Act

As composer and orchestrator, film music and symphonic works have been recorded by the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg under conductor Jörg Iwer , chamber music recordings with the Slovak Sinfonietta Orchestra with mezzo-soprano Felicitas Brunke and soprano Raphaela Stürmer, as well as recordings with tenor Daniel Kluge ( Stuttgart State Opera ).

In 2016, together with theater director Annette Müller, sound designer Christian Kessler and motion designer Jonathan Rieder, he was involved in founding the theater collective “Frida Herzkomplott”, which specializes in interdisciplinary performance formats.

In the same year the music for the silent film "Ludwigsburg Symphony" premiered in front of 8,000 listeners at the open air of the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival under the direction of Pietari Inkinen and the Castle Festival Orchestra.

In 2018, the collaboration with the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg and the sopranos Samantha Gaul and Katharina Ruckgaber at the Freiburg im Breisgau Theater followed .

In addition to his work as a composer, Küßner is also active as a percussionist in various orchestras and ensembles and has performed with the soloists Sebastian Breuninger (1st concertmaster of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra ), Matthew McDonald (1st solo double bassist of the Berlin Philharmonic ) and Anne Romeis ( SWR Symphony Orchestra) ). Concert tours have taken him to Italy, Austria, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, among others.

Küßner made his international debut as a composer at the 71st Festival de Cannes , where the film L'Aria del Moscerino (director: Lukas von Berg) celebrated its world premiere as part of the “Next Generation Awards”.
