Leonard Thielmann (born April 4, 1993 ) is a German grass skier . He has been taking part in FIS races and junior world championships since 2008 and has competed in the World Cup since 2010 .

Career

Thielmann has been participating in the German Cup races since 2003 . His best overall result so far is a sixth place in 2011. In 2009 and 2011 he was third in the youth class. After reaching the age limit, Thielmann first took part in FIS races in May / June 2008 . Two months later he started at the Junior World Championship in Rieden in 2008 , where he only finished 20th in the Super-G and failed or was disqualified in the other races. After further starts at FIS races, he also took part in the 2009 Junior World Championship in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , where he placed 15th in the Super-G and 18th in the Super Combined twice in midfield, while he was in slalom and Giant slalom again not counted.

In 2010 Thielmann did not take part in the Junior World Championships held in Iran , but instead started two World Cup races for the first time in addition to FIS races . At the Atzmännig near Goldingen , however, he remained without World Cup points, as he was eliminated in both the giant slalom and the super combined. Even at his next two World Cup starts in the 2011 season, he remained without points after failure and disqualification. In 2011, Thielmann again took part in the Atzmännig Junior World Championship , where he was only able to show a result in the Super-G as 15th after failures in slalom and giant slalom. He also took part in a race of the world championship held at the same time in the general class, but retired in this slalom in the first round.

Thielmann again took part in two World Cup races in the 2012 season. In the giant slalom of Předklášteří he suffered a failure again, before he reached his first countable result in the World Cup the next day with 21st place in the slalom. However, since his deficit on the winning time was too great, he also failed to score World Cup points in this race. At the Junior World Championship 2012 in Burbach , Thielmann achieved top placings for the first time: He was fifth in the Super-G (at the same time as the Czech Šimon Vojta ) and tenth in the giant slalom. In the super combined he was eliminated and in the slalom he was disqualified after a goal error.
