Šimon Vojta (born June 23, 1992 ) is a Czech grass skier . He has competed in the World Cup and World Championships since 2007 .

Career

Vojta drove his first FIS races in June 2007. In August, he contested his first two World Cup races in Čenkovice , but did not come in the points. In September he took part in the 2007 World Cup in Olešnice v Orlických horách , but could only classify himself in the bottom field. The Czech won his first World Cup points on June 14th, 2008 with 20th place in the Super Combined by Rettenbach . He scored further points in July in the races of Čenkovice with 17th place in slalom and 23rd place in giant slalom. In the overall ranking of the 2008 season he came in 44th place. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Rieden , he achieved the 14th place in the super combined as the best result. In all other competitions he was among the fastest 25.

In the 2009 World Cup season , Vojta's best results were two 20th places in the Super Combined in Wilhelmsburg and in the giant slalom in Forni di Sopra , placing him 51st in the overall ranking. He achieved a top 10 result with eighth place in the giant slalom at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota u Ostravy . At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, his best result was 24th place in the slalom. In the 2010 season Vojta was among the fastest 20 in four World Cup races, with 16th place in the giant slalom in Dizin being his best result of the season. He finished the overall World Cup tied with Italian Fabrizio Rottigni in 36th position. At the Junior World Championships 2010 in Dizin, his best results were two ninth places in slalom and giant slalom.

In the 2011 World Cup season, Vojta was able to improve significantly. On September 16, he achieved his first top 10 result with tenth place in the giant slalom in Forni di Sopra and was among the fastest 15 in four other World Cup races. He was also among the quickest 15 in four FIS races, making him in the Overall World Cup improved to 15th place. At the 2011 World Cup in Goldingen , he did not come close to these results. He finished 27th in the giant slalom and 28th in the Super-G. He did not start in slalom and super combination. Without a result he stayed at the Junior World Championship, which was held together with the World Cup . There he was eliminated from all competitions. Vojta did not come close to the World Cup results of the previous year in the 2012 season . This time, a 14th place in the giant slalom in Předklášteří was his best result, another four times he was among the fastest 20. In the overall World Cup, he dropped eight places to 23rd place. At the Junior World Championships in 2012 in Burbach , he achieved three top 10 placings: he was fifth in the super-G, ninth in the giant slalom and tenth in the super combination. In the slalom, however, he was disqualified after a goal error in the first round.
