Kakahi is a small settlement in the Ruapehu District of the Manawatu-Wanganui region on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 13 km southeast of Taumarunui and around 31 km west of the southern tip of Lake Taupo . To the northeast of the settlement, the Whakapapa River flows into the Whanganui River , which flows north of the settlement to the west.
Infrastructure
Road traffic
The New Zealand State Highway 4 , which connects Kakahi with Taumarunui in the northwest and Raetihi in the south, passes the settlement around 2 km southwest. The New Zealand State Highway 41 passes 3 miles north .
Rail transport
The North Island Main Trunk Railway runs through Kakahi , but without a stop in the settlement it is of no importance for the settlement.
Attractions
The three peaks of the volcanoes Mount Ruapehu , Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Tongariro are in sight to the southeast, the latter around 30 km away.
