history
In 1899 Leonhard Kurz founded a company for the production of gold leaf . In 1931 his successor Konrad Kurz patented a vacuum-deposited real gold stamping foil. Areas of application were bookbinding and writing on pencils , among other things . In the 1950s, aluminum-coated foils were produced for hot stamping technology, and from the 1960s onwards, the company entered mechanical engineering . In the 1970s, the first foreign sales companies were founded and a production facility was set up in the USA . Further steps were the embossing of magnetic strips (e.g. on the back of flight tickets or savings books ) and of holographic elements such as kinegrams .
