Leonhard Sandrock

Leonhard Sandrock (born March 5, 1867 in Neumarkt in Silesia , † October 30, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German painter and etcher.

Life

Leonhard Sandrock was the son of a pastor of the same name. His first watercolor was a locomotive, which he painted at the age of 5. After graduating from high school in Schweidnitz in 1887, he first embarked on an officer career in the Prussian army, but had to give it up in 1894 due to a riding accident and then studied in Berlin in the studio of the landscape and marine painter Hermann Eschke . He later painted in German, Dutch and Italian port cities as well as in Belgian , Westphalian and Upper Silesian industrial districts. In 1898 he became a member of the Berlin Artists' Association . His works were regularly represented at the annual Great Berlin Art Exhibition .
