Leonhard Schrickel

Leonhard Schrickel (born September 17, 1876 in Weimar ; † January 15, 1931 , in Bad Frankenhausen ) was a German writer of historical novels and local researcher .

Life

Born as the son of a wine merchant on September 17, 1876 in Weimar, Leonhard Schrickel was primarily considered to be the author of historical novels. He lived first in Dresden , later again in Weimar. Shortly before his death at the age of 55, he was relatively well known in the Weimar Republic , as he sought his topics specifically in the area around his homeland, such as: B. Friedrich the Freidigen , the last of the Hohenstaufen .

In his foreword to his Weimar guide, he described the city as “symbolic” , “not a real place, and presented a popular classics mediation that primarily wanted to defy the 'dangers' of the new republic (..)” .

Schrickel also emerged as the editor of historical documents from the environment of Goethe , a local history of Weimar and a chronicle of the Weimar theater. Schrickel held lectures as an active member of the Academy of Charitable Sciences in Erfurt .

He was married to Anna Lilly († 1951), nee Wurm.
