Leonhardi is the name of a noble family from Hesse .
history
The family originally comes from Waldeck . The family line begins with Christoph Leonhardt (1610–1687), bailiff in Arolsen and then town and country school in Nieder-Wildungen . His son Johann Jacob (1645–1691) was the first to call himself Leonhardi. He becomes court bailiff and rent master of the Eisenberg and acquires the knightly castle fief in Mengeringhausen . Johann Peter (1747–1830), banker, businessman, politician and freemason in Frankfurt was appointed baron by Carl Theodor von der Pfalz in 1791 and baron by Emperor Franz II in 1794 for his services in business and politics . The Bohemian line founded by his son Karl (1781–1864) was included in the local gentry in 1812 ; it has since expired. The family belongs to the Althessian knighthood .
