Johann Peter von Leonhardi
Johann Peter von Leonhardi (born December 4, 1747 Frankfurt am Main ; † November 22, 1830 in Groß-Karben ) was a Frankfurt merchant, landowner and politician. He was ennobled in 1791 and confirmed as an imperial baron in 1794.

His parents were the businessman Johann Jacob Kasimir Leonhardi (1709–1780) and his wife Margaretha Elisabeth Koch (1718–1785)
Life
Leonhardi joined his father's company on August 1, 1774, which at that time was still “Joh. Michael Koch & Leonhardi "was called. When his father died in 1780, he left his son a fortune of more than 1 million guilders . This uses his money to buy land. When Wilhelm Adam von Curti went bankrupt in 1790 , Leonhardi seized the opportunity to secure the "Klüppel'sche fief". He acquired the ownership rights to Groß-Karben with one of his castles , Klein-Karben , Kaichen , Kloppenheim , Burg-Graefenrode and Dortelweil . The necessary electoral Palatinate fiefdom was given to him on December 10, 1790. To this end, he received a coat of arms from the Electorate of the Palatinate in February 1791 and was raised to the status of nobility and baron by the Palatinate-Bavarian Elector and Imperial Vicar in September 1791. He also became the Imperial Real Privy Councilor. On March 15, 1794 he received the imperial confirmation of the imperial baron status. He is the founder of the noble family Leonhardi .
In 1794 he began to build the new Leonhardi house on the Zeil in Frankfurt; construction lasted until 1797. In 1809 he had the Villa Leonhardi built, which is now in the Frankfurt Palm Garden . Its builder was Salins de Montfort . During this time he added to his acquisitions. After the death of Privy Councilor von Brand , he bought her property in Groß-Karben and, in 1809, also von Edelsheim 's property in Dortelweil and Nieder-Erlenbach . He then made a Fideikommiß out of the goods , which was confirmed on September 22, 1811. From 1800 to 1814 he was senior and director of the 51 College in Frankfurt, of which he had been a member since 1790.
In 1802 he retired from business life and handed over the company to his son Ludwig Carl, which had to file for bankruptcy in 1824.
Freemasons
From 1786 to 1792 Leonhardi was Provincial Grand Master of the Frankfurt Provincial Lodge and the first Grand Master of the Eclectic Freemasons Association . In the park of the Leonhard Castle in Groß-Karben there is still a small building in which the Freemasons used to gather.

He married Susanna Elisabetha Heyder (March 14, 1753 - January 14, 1804) in Frankfurt am Main on March 14. The couple had several children:
