Leonhardt Holzapfel (also called Holzäpfl; † March 19, 1620 in Wiener Neustadt ) was an Italian master stonemason . He was a court stone mason under the emperors Matthias and Ferdinand II.

Life

In the master book of the Wiener Neustädter Steinmetzhandes of 1617 the names of the stonemasons of the Kaisersteinbruch quarter load are documented: Antonius Crivelli , Ulrich Payos : Leonhardt Holzäpfl. Pietro de Magistris , Nicola de Novo, Andre Ruffini and Antonius Bregno .

Report for the Lower Austrian lords 1618

In the report of the rent master Johann Miller to the Lower Austrian government of February 20, 1618, he also describes the working conditions in the imperial quarry and lists the names of the masters (excerpt):

... the servants who stay in the quarry live from the work with these six masters. Ulrich Payos, Pietro de Magistris , Leonhardt Holzäpfl, Nicolae di Novo, Andre Ruffini and Antonius Bregno . They are all Swiss , including four Masters of Her Imperial Majesty. In the event Her Majesty need them, you owe them to put all other work aside and to get Her Majesty's things done. How they now lead a main gate on Ebersdorf ... "
