Leopold Theodor Karl Oelenheinz (born May 16, 1871 in Karlsruhe , † March 21, 1937 in Coburg ) was a German architect , visual artist and author. He restored medieval buildings in the spirit of historicism .

Life

Oelenheinz studied architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe . During his studies in 1892 he became a member of the Suevia Karlsruhe Landsmannschaft . After completing his studies, taught at the Ducal Building Trade School in Coburg from 1894 onwards . In the summer he was busy for several years on behalf of the Coburg state government with the restoration work on the Marienkirche in Königsberg in Franconia . At the inauguration, the regent of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Prince Ernst II of Hohenlohe-Langenburg , awarded him the title of "Professor" on July 19, 1904. In 1926, the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture gave him the title and rank of senior building officer . On October 1, 1932, Oelenheinz was put into permanent retirement by the Ministry of Education because of proven incapacity.

Oelenheinz's architectural and literary work as a local researcher concentrated on Coburg and northern Franconia .
