Leopold von Hassell

Leopold von Hassell (born August 16, 1843 in Celle , Kingdom of Hanover , † January 20, 1913 in Kassel ) was a German judge.

origin

Hassell came from a noble family of Verdens and Knights from Bremen, whose lineage begins in 1618. His parents were the High Court President Christian von Hassell and his wife Karoline geb. by Bobert.

career

He studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and became active in the Corps Franconia Munich on October 21, 1862 . After completing his studies at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , he was hired as a Hanoverian auditor . After the German War in 1866 he was accepted into the Prussian judicial service as a trainee lawyer. He became a court assessor in 1870 and married Helene Reinecke in 1871, the daughter of a senior judge from Celle . In 1872 he came to the district court of Lehe , where he was magistrate in 1873. In 1875 he came to the Aurich Higher Court and the Lüneburg Higher Court as an assessor . He was appointed district judge in 1879. He became director of the Nordhausen Regional Court in 1888 and of the Göttingen Regional Court in 1892 . In 1896 he returned to the Lüneburg district court as president. From 1900 he was President of the Kassel Regional Court and from 1905 President of the Kassel Higher Regional Court. He died in office at the age of 69.
