Leopold Winter , von Winter from 1828 , (* 1797 ; † December 28, 1864 in Jelenic near Kulm , West Prussia ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He came from a family originally from the Palatinate . Winter was first pastor and district school inspector in Schwetz on the Vistula and finally superintendent in Jelenic near Kulm.

In Schwetz he had already made great contributions to the consolidation of Protestantism in West Prussia . Later in Jelenic, too, in his domestic devotions he offered the members of the Evangelical Church scattered in the Kulm region a meeting place. Through the gentleness and dignity of his personalities, he contributed to the balance between the denominations and earned respect on both sides.

Winter received together with his brother Friedrich, Pastor zu Ausleben , on May 28, 1828 in Berlin the Prussian nobility recognition as "von Winter".

His son was the same long- Gdansk mayor and Prussian deputies Leopold of winter .
