Lepismium crenatum is a species of plant in the genus Lepismium in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet crenatum means '(Latin crenatus) notched'.

description

Lepismium crenatum grows epiphytically , is shrubby and branches laterally. The narrow, elongated, wavy, thin- fleshed shoot segments have a conspicuous central rib . They are up to 30 inches long and 6 inches wide. The large areoles are covered with wool. The three to eight thorns emerging from them are up to 4 millimeters long.

The small red flowers appear laterally. The fruits have a diameter of up to 7 millimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Lepismium crenatum is widespread in the Bolivian department of La Paz at altitudes of 1,800 meters.

The first description under the incorrect name Hariota boliviana ( ICBN Article 11.4) was made in 1891 by Nathaniel Lord Britton . Wilhelm Barthlott placed Art in 1987 in the genus Lepismium . Nomenclatory synonyms are Acanthorhipsalis crenata (Britton) Britton & Rose (1923), Rhipsalis crenata (Britton) Vaupel (1926), Pfeiffera crenata (Britton) PVHeath (1994) and Lymanbensonia crenata (Britton) Doweld (2002).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
