Lepismium incachacanum is a species of the genus Lepismium in the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet incachacanum means' named after the site Incachaca in the province of Chapare in Bolivia.

description

Lepismium incachacanum grows epiphytically and shrubby with hanging, richly branched shoots up to 1.5 meters in length. The green, mostly flattened shoot segments are somewhat wavy. They are 20 to 30 inches long and 4 to 6 inches wide. The edges are notched. In the notches sit the deeply sunk areoles , which are covered with wool and tufts of light-colored bristles and hair .

The magenta-colored flowers appear individually or in pairs on the sides. They are up to 1.8 inches long. The pentagonal fruits are reddish.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Lepismium incachacanum is distributed in the Bolivian departments of La Paz and Cochabamba in the Yungas forests at altitudes of 2200 to 2700 meters.

It was first described as Rhipsalis incachacana in 1952 by Martín Cárdenas . Wilhelm Barthlott placed Art in 1987 in the genus Lepismium . A nomenclatory synonym is Acanthorhipsalis incachacana (Cárdenas) Volgin (1982).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
