Leroy Warriner

Leroy E. Warriner (born March 1, 1919 in Indianapolis , Indiana , † January 2, 2003 ibid) was an American racing driver .

Career

Warriner's career was almost entirely limited to midget car racing. Here he won the US-wide championship in 1953. In the early 1950s, he also raced in Australia and New Zealand.

For the Indianapolis 500 he tried to qualify seven times but to no avail. His only start in the highest US motorsport class, he completed in 1953 at the ISF on the Indiana State Fairground . It finished 18th and last and was the only vehicle that was eliminated early.

After his resignation, he ran the Indy Speedrome together with Gene Hartley from 1962 to 1977 .
