Lester W. Milbrath
Lester W. Milbrath (born 1925 in Bertha, Minnesota , † December 26, 2007 in Amherst ) was an American sociologist and political scientist .
Having Bachelor and Master at the University of Minnesota had acquired Milbrath was at the University of North Carolina in 1956 the Ph.D. awarded. As a university lecturer he worked from 1957 in Duke and at Northwestern University in Chicago and from 1965 for the majority of his academic career at the University at Buffalo . Milbrath was director of the Environmental Studies Center there from 1976 to 1987 . Milbrath's work The Washington Lobbyists (1963) on the influence of lobbyists on Congress and Political Participation: How and Why do People Get Involved in Politics (1965) on political participation are particularly influential .
