Letizia Werth (* 1974 in Bozen ) is a South Tyrolean visual artist who has lived and worked in Vienna since 1994.

Career

Werth graduated from the Ortisei in Val Gardena Art School in 1993 and completed her studies six years later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in master classes with Wolfgang Hollegha and Franz Graf .

The main focus of her artistic activity are large-scale graphite drawings directly on rough canvas. In addition, she creates video projects and installations for the most part from old, private photographs that she finds at flea markets, among other places. "Lived everyday life" and "found photos that have lost any context" have long been an important element in her works. The extensive image archive of anonymous photographs and the "unbelievable amounts of images that constantly document our lives" serve as a source of inspiration for many works.

She repeatedly implements projects, videos and temporary installations using the medium of dust . In 2003 she received the 28th Austrian Graphics Prize.

In 2012 she was awarded one of the funding studios of the Republic of Austria in Vienna for her artistic work. The federal studios are open to the interested public during guided tours every autumn on Open Studio Day as part of Vienna Art Week.
