Letsemeng ( English Letsemeng Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Xhariep District , Free State Province , South Africa. The administrative headquarters are in Koffiefontein . Sello J. Bahumi is the mayor.

The community name is derived from the Sesotho word "letsema". In the past, other families were invited to the harvest, and they received food and traditional beer for their help without further compensation. The name symbolizes the spirit of community and cooperation in order to achieve goals together.

In 2011 the community had 38,628 inhabitants. Of these, 67.8% were black, 23.4% colored and 8.1% white.

The first language was 60.7% Afrikaans, 11.9% Sesotho , 10.3% IsiXhosa , 9.2% Setswana and 1.2% English.
