Lighthouse (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lighthouse is a common figure in heraldry and is primarily used by cities and municipalities whose location is close to the sea or in whose area there is or was a natural lighthouse. The lighthouse is a landmark of sea and trading cities.

A tower is shown, on which a cone with a different tinging to the right and to the left emanates from the top third of the tower after the edge of the shield . The use of brick or smooth towers is possible. If the light beam is missing, a detailed representation of the lamp house or the tower gallery in the coat of arms is an attempt to establish clarity. Further features are a blue (wave) shield base on which the tower is located (see wave section ). Small gray rocks or green areas that suggest an island are intended to underline the proximity to the water
