The Lighthouse Eckernförde is a guiding and warning fire in the Eckernförde Bay . The white leading sector indicates the approach to Eckernförde , the other sectors warn of the shallows Mittelgrund and Stollergrund and the military training area. A side fire, together with the harbor lighthouse , marks the entrance to the Eckernförde city harbor.
Old lighthouse
The first lighthouse was built in 1907 on the Klintbarg in Sandkrug . The architect was Arnold Bruhn . The building consists of a rectangular caretaker's house with a large light room on the upper floor. The beacon, which was first powered by a kerosene lamp , was electrified in 1926. The identifier was generated with an otter aperture .
Six years after it was put into operation, the Imperial Navy built the Eckernförde torpedo test station directly under the lighthouse . The lead sector now led directly through the torpedo range. Since the lighthouse could not be easily moved, a corresponding warning sector was temporarily set up. This interim solution only changed in 1986, when a new lighthouse was built more than seventy years later. The last lighthouse keeper left the building on September 30, 1986. The rooms were then converted into holiday apartments for the employees of the water and shipping authorities .
The building is a listed building (object no .: 23081).
New lighthouse
The new lighthouse was built in 1986 about 575 meters northwest of the old lighthouse. The technical rooms are located in the base of the 26.9 m high concrete structure , the beacon is housed in the upper platform. The light source consists of a 230 V / 2 kW xenon gas discharge lamp and a Fresnel lens . With a light intensity of 212,000 candela , the range of the fire is up to 21.6 nautical miles (approx. 40 kilometers). The different identifiers of the pilot and warning lights are generated by separate otter screens . The side fire shows a weaker fixed fire in the northeast sector.
The fully automatic lighthouse is maintained by the Lübeck Waterways and Shipping Authority and monitored by the traffic control center in Travemünde .
