The Ranzow lighthouse was a lighthouse on the north coast of the Jasmund peninsula on Rügen . Its location was about two kilometers east of Lohme and about one kilometer northeast of Ranzow .
It is identical to the Kolliker Ort lighthouse on the east coast of Jasmund. Both lighthouses were built by the Pintsch company in 1904. The function as a lighthouse and operation as a beacon began on April 1, 1905. The tower is six meters high and consists of 24 cast iron segments, plus a conical copper roof structure with a compass rose . It served as an orientation light and in particular for ferry traffic on the royal line from Sassnitz to Trelleborg . Originally it was designed to operate with a gas lamp, but in 1936 the beacon was converted to an electric lamp. In 1999 the beacon was stopped and in 2002 the tower was dismantled due to fear of vandalism damage.
In 2004, the tower was erected as part of the area monument (with sea mark exhibits) at Cape Arkona on the island of Rügen as a testimony to the German sea mark system .
