Lewisville is a city in Forsyth County , North Carolina in the United States . It is located near Winston-Salem .
history
The city was founded in the 1770s when Pennsylvania settlers roamed the country, stopping for Forsyth County. The town was named after one of these settlers, Lewis Laugenour, whose property still stands as it was built.
Today Lewisville is one of the fastest growing cities in Forsyth County. The city now has over 10,000 inhabitants, the last official population census in 2000 showed 8,826 inhabitants.
Demographics
At the last population census in 2000, the city had 8,826 inhabitants, 3,341 households. 2676 families lived in the city. The population density was 125.9 / km². Of the 3,341 households, 40.0% had children under the age of 18. 70.5% of the householders were married couples and 7.4% were women living alone or with a single husband.
