Dragonflies of Timor
That list includes the dragonflies of Timor , the largest of the Lesser Sunda Islands in Southeast Asia . The island is divided into the Indonesian West Timor and the state of East Timor , which also includes the West Timor exclave Oe-Cusse Ambeno . About 50 species of dragonflies are currently known from Timor .
Overview
Since 2017, more and more species of dragonflies have been scientifically registered, including new species that are probably endemic to Timor and its offshore islands. Indolestes lafaeci have so far only been found in western Timor. Nososticta impercepta appears only to occur on Timor and possibly on Roti . Before that there were only a few documentaries about dragonflies on Timor and mostly only from the southwestern part of the island, which once belonged to the Dutch East Indies . There are reports from Maurits Anne Lieftinck from 1936 and 1953. Tom Weir collected dragonflies in 1973 in Portuguese Timor , today's East Timor. The collection is now in the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin ( Australia ). The Wiesbaden Museum houses four dragonfly preparations that were collected in 2016 at Mutis in West Timor.
