The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova ( Romanian Partidul Liberal Democrat din Moldova , PLDM) is a political party in the Republic of Moldova .

The PLDM was founded on December 8, 2007. Your political orientation is liberal - conservative . The party leader is Vlad Filat . In the parliamentary elections in April 2009 , it received 12.4% of the vote, making it the third largest force and the second largest opposition party. With 15 seats, she received as many seats as the slightly better performing Partidul Liberal . After the results were announced, the party participated in protests against the communist government , which was accused of election fraud.

Another parliamentary election took place on July 29, 2009 . The PLDM achieved 16.6% of the vote and had 18 MPs. She formed a government coalition "Alliance for European Integration" with the Liberal Party (PL), the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Alianța Moldova Noastră (AMN).

In the parliamentary elections on November 28, 2010 , it was the second largest party after the communists with 29.42% of the vote and 32 seats. She continued the governing coalition “Alliance for European Integration” with PL and PDM (the AMN was no longer represented in parliament) and provided the Prime Minister with Vlad Filat. After a vote of no confidence in March 2013, Filat was overthrown and PLDM member Iurie Leancă became head of government.

In the parliamentary elections on November 30, 2014 , the PLDM achieved 20.16% of the vote and had 23 MPs. The governing coalition retained a majority of 55 MPs against 46 seats in the opposition. In February 2015, Chiril Gaburici was again elected Prime Minister of the PDLM.

From 2015 the PLDM lost massive political importance. In June 2015, Gaburici was forced to resign after just four months after it became known that he had forged diplomas. In October of the same year, longtime PLDM chairman Vlad Filat lost his parliamentary immunity for corruption and involvement in a billion-dollar banking scandal and was subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison. After it had been below one percent in polls in the previous months, the PLDM no longer ran in the 2019 parliamentary election .
