Lidia Fidura (born July 1, 1990 in Ruda Śląska ) is a Polish boxer .

Career

Lidia Fidura grew up in Ruda Śląska and attended high school there. She began various martial arts at the age of eight. So she did aikido , taekwondo , karate and kickboxing . At times she was active in several of these sports at the same time and was also very successful at regional youth championships. In September 2005 she started boxing. She became a member of the boxing club Walka Makoszowy Zabrze . She was discovered for boxing by Bogdan Jendrysik, who also became her trainer and temporarily shares this position with Ludwik Buczynski. Due to her versatility, Lidia Fidura has excellent physical prerequisites for boxing and starts in the middleweight division and recently in the light heavyweight division .

In 2006 she started at the Polish Junior Championship, but was not able to assert herself there. In 2007 she became Polish junior champion in the weight class up to 70 kg body weight and defeated u. a. Sylwia Kusiak and Paulina Polczynska. She repeated this title win in 2008. She won it in the final by breaking off in the first round over Natalija Hollinska. In 2009, Lidia Fidura was the first Polish champion among senior women with a point win over Ewa Piatkowska and Justyna Sroczynska.

In 2009 she made her first starts at the international championships. In June 2009 she entered the middleweight division of the European Union in Pazardzhik / Bulgaria , where she won her first fight over the experienced Anita Ducza from Hungary on points (5: 2), but lost in the final against Erica Guerrier from France. At the European Championships in 2009 in Mykolaiv / Ukraine she won points over Sinead Kavanagh from Ireland , but then lost in the quarterfinals in the revenge against Anita Ducza on points and therefore “only” finished 5th.

In 2010 she came to the Grand Prix tournament in Ústí nad Labem u. a. to a point victory over Marina Wolnowa from Kazakhstan , but lost in the final fight against the multiple world champion in the weight class up to 69 kg or 70 kg body weight Irina Sinezkaja from Russia on points (1: 4). In April 2010 she started at the tournament for the Turkish Prime Minister's Cup in Ankara . There she defeated the world class boxers Alexandra de Hutten from France and Lilija Durnejewa from Ukraine as well as the two-time world champion in the weight class up to 66 kg body weight Mary Spencer from Canada on points, whereby in this fight, in the opinion of the judges, none of the boxers could be counted even a single one Hit. The overall impression then decided in favor of Lidia Fidura. In the final, she lost to the two-time heavyweight world champion, who trained in the middleweight division, Mária Kovács from Hungary, with 2: 3 points. In June 2010 she succeeded in the Minoan Cup in Heraklion / Greece in the light heavyweight division, the first victory in an important international tournament. In the final, she defeated Anna Laurell from Sweden , the multiple world middleweight champion.

Because of these results, she was at the World Cup in Bridgetown / Barbados , where she started again in the light heavyweight division, as a favorite. However, she could not quite meet these expectations there, because after a points victory over Inna Shevchenko from Ukraine, she surprisingly lost in the quarter-finals to the Hungarian Timea Nagy on points (6:12) and therefore only came in 5th. In November 2010 Lidia Fidura started in Oxnard / USA at the 1st Women's Intern. Dual series, in which no tournament winner was determined, and defeated the US elite twice in the middleweight division with Kalita Marsh (18: 1 and 3: 0), Lisbeth Varga (11:10) and Alyssa Defazio (5: 3) -american female boxers in this weight class.

Despite her somewhat disappointing performance at the 2010 World Cup, Lidia Fidura is considered to be the greatest hope for young Polish boxers.
