Anita Ducza (* 1982 in Nyíregyháza ) is a Hungarian boxer . She won a total of nine middleweight medals at world and European championships .

Career

Anita Ducza is one of the pioneers of women's boxing in Hungary . She started boxing before 2000 and belongs to the Nyíregyházi Vasutas Sport Club . In 2000 she became Hungarian champion in the weight class up to 71 kg body weight with a victory in the final over Eva Labant. Her international career began at the European Championships in St. Amant-les-Eaux, France. She started there in the weight class up to 69 kg body weight and lost in the semifinals to Olga Slawinskaya from Russia by breaking off in the 3rd round, but won her first medal at an international championship with the EM bronze medal . In the course of her further career, in which she always started in the middleweight division, she won eight more medals at world and European championships. So far, however, she has not been granted the title of world or European champion even once.

In 2003 she won the European Middleweight Championship silver medal at the European Championships in Pécs . In the final, she lost to the Russian Natalja Ragosina , who later became a long-time world champion as a professional boxer. Anita Ducza also won the silver medal at the 2004 European Championships in Riccione , losing in the final to Anna Laurell from Sweden , who later became one of her main competitors. At the 2005 European Championships in Tønsberg / Norway , she won over Olga Nowikowa from Ukraine on points (24:19), but lost in the semi-finals to Marija Jaworskaja from Russia on points (17:24) and therefore received a bronze medal at this European Championship. In 2005 World Championships were held in Podolsk . There Anita Ducza won in the quarterfinals over Emine Ozkan from Turkey on points (31:14), but lost in the semifinals to Olga Nowikowa on points (20:26), who was able to take revenge for the defeat at the 2005 European Championships, while Anita Ducza won another bronze medal with it.

In 2006 Anita Ducza won the championship of the European Union in Porto Torres / Italy . She defeated Anna Srodawska from Poland by breaking off in the 3rd round and Hatice Olgundeniz from Turkey by breaking off the 2nd round. In 2006 there were also European and World Championships. Anita Ducza won a medal again at both championships. At the European Championships in Warsaw she came in 3rd place after a point victory over Luminate Turcin from Romania and a point defeat in the semifinals against Olga Nowikowa (11:26) and at the World Championships in New Delhi she fought her way with a point victory over Marija Jaworskaja ( 27:15) into the final, in which she was defeated on points by the Indian Lekha Kozhummel Chettadi , who was supported by a fanatical audience.

In 2007 Anita Ducza retired from the European Championships in Vejle / Denmark in the quarter-finals with a point defeat against Marija Jaworskaja (5:10) and thus did not achieve a medal. For this she got into the final at the championship of the European Union in Lille , in which she lost to Anna Laurell just on points (6: 7) and thus took second place. She then won the next medal at the 2008 World Cup in Ningbo / People's Republic of China . Here she won the middleweight division against Nikolina Orlovic from Croatia on points (4: 2) and lost again in the semifinals to Anna Laurell on points (2: 8). However, Anita Ducza's ambition was still not satisfied. In 2009 she started the ninth year of her international career. Also this year she did not go away empty-handed. She first won a bronze medal at the championship of the European Union in Pazardzhik / Bulgaria after losing points in the semifinals against Lidija Fidura from Poland (2: 5) and also won the same-colored medal at the European championship in Nikolajew / Ukraine, where she won after a point victory via Lidija Fidura (4: 1) in the semifinals against multiple world champion Irina Sinezkaja from Russia on points (1: 8).

In 2010, Anita Ducza suddenly got a big competitor in her own country. The multiple world and European heavyweight champion Mária Kovács had lost so much weight after a long illness that she lost the remaining kilos that separated her from the middleweight division and is now competing in this weight class. Another reason for Mária Kovács to start in the middleweight division is of course the fact that the 2012 Olympic Games in London will see boxing competitions for the first time in the flying, light and middleweight division. At the Hungarian championship 2010 Anita Ducza met Maria Kovacs in the middleweight final and lost this fight with 0: 5 judges votes. She did not accept an offer from the Hungarian Boxing Association to take part in the international light heavyweight championships in 2010 . If Anita Ducza wants to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games, she will first have to eliminate Mária Kovács in her own country, which will be very difficult.
