Marija Nikolajewna Jaworskaja

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marija Nikolajewna Jaworskaja ( Russian Мария Николаевна Яворская ; * December 21, 1981 in Nakhodka ) is a Russian boxer . In 2006 she became the European amateur champion in the weight class up to 75 kg.

Career

Marija Jaworskaja comes from the city of Nakhodka on the Sea of Japan in the Primorye region . She started boxing as a teenager and belongs to the sports organization Dynamo. She mostly trains in Moscow and is supervised by Oleg Nureyev.

Since 2001 she has belonged to the elite of Russian female boxers in the heavy weight classes. From these early years of women's boxing, the results of the Russian championships are not known. It can be assumed, however, that she had already become Russian champion in 2002 because she was used at the 2nd World Cup for Women in Antalya that year . She started there in the weight class up to 90 kg body weight and was defeated in the final against Mária Kovács from Hungary . She became vice world champion right away.

In 2003 she competed at the European Championships in Pécs / Hungary. She started there in the weight class up to 86 kg and took 3rd place. The individual results of this championship are not known. In 2004 Maria Jaworskaja became Russian champion in the weight class up to 86 kg with a victory over Maria Reingard. At the European Championships this year in Riccione / Italy , she took 3rd place behind Maria Kovacs and Anna Seltschuk from Ukraine and thus won another medal.

In 2005 Maria Jaworskaja won the European Championships in Tønsberg / Norway in the weight class up to 75 kg body weight over Anita Ducza from Hungary on points (24:29) and lost in the final against the 2001 world champion Anna Laurell from Sweden on points (20: 31). At the 2005 World Cup , which took place in Podolsk , she won in the same weight class over Shannah Hook from Canada by breaking off in the 2nd round, but lost again in the semifinals against Anna Laurell and thus took 3rd place.

In 2006 Maria Jaworskaja was enough to win the second round at the European Championships in Warsaw in the class up to 75 kg body weight over Mia Etelapelto from Finland and a points win over Olga Nowikowa from Ukraine (26: 9) to become European champion for the first time. The number of participants in international women's boxing championships was mostly low in the years from 2000 to 2005/06, especially in the heavy weight classes, so that two victories were usually enough to win a title. The same female boxers often met each other again and again. At the 2006 World Cup in New Delhi , Maria Jaworskaja lost in the quarterfinals to Anita Ducza and did not reach the medal ranks and had to be satisfied with 5th place.

Unfortunately, the results of the Russian championships in 2005 and 2006 are not known. From 2007 to 2010 she became Russian champion four times in a row. 2007 and 2008 in the weight class up to 75 kg body weight (middle weight) and in 2009 and 2010 in the light heavyweight category (up to 81 kg body weight). During these years she continued to compete in the international championships and was beaten on points by Anna Laurell in the final of the 2007 European championships in Vejle / Denmark (13: 3).

In 2008 she was at the start of the World Championship in Ningbo / China , but had to give up in a preliminary round fight, the number of participants had increased in the heavier weight classes, defeated the Chinese Li Jinzi and therefore only finished 9th. Even at the international championships in 2009 and 2010, Maria Jaworskaja did not get into the medal ranks. At the European Championships in 2009 in Nikolajew / Ukraine she lost in the light heavyweight quarter-finals to the Turkish Selma Yağcı on points (6: 8) and was therefore fifth and also at the 2010 World Championships in Bridgetown , Barbados , she was defeated in the light heavyweight against Selma Yağcı on points ( 8:11), but already in the round of 16 and therefore only ended up in 9th place.

In 2011, Marija Jaworskaja fought her way into the final at the Russian championships with victories over Lyubov Gitliz (14: 3) and Lyubow Paschina (20: 9), in which she was defeated by Svetlana Kossowa on points (6:15) and thus Russian runner-up has been. It was not used at the European Championships in Rotterdam .
