Liersberg is part of the Igel community in the Trier-Saarburg district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Liersberg lies in the valley of the Moselle . The K 2 runs through the village and the K 3 runs on the western edge of the village. The neighboring village is Igel in the southeast. To the east of Liersberg is the Zewener Forest and to the north of the village is the federal motorway 64 .

history

Liersberg was first mentioned in a document in 816 as Lusica . However, people already settled in what is now the local area in Roman and Frankish times. This is shown by various traces of settlement. A church is mentioned for the first time in 1241. Until the French Revolution , Liersberg belonged to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg . Since the Sauer formed the border with Germany in 1815, the place has belonged to Germany.
