In the summer of 1947 Liesl Geisler helped more than 5,000 Eastern European Jews during escape attempts , by the escape aid organization Bricha were conducted by over Italy to Palestine to arrive. Starting from the Givat Avoda camp , the refugees were brought in groups of 200 to 300 people via the municipality of Krimml , past the Krimml waterfalls , through the Achental to the Krimmler Tauernhaus, and after a rest, continued over the border crossing to Italy, over the approximately 2600 meters high Krimmler Tauern to flee.

Geisler expressed himself in undated handwritten memories about this time:

“Then came 1947. The migration of Jews over the Tauern. Often 200 to 300 came a day, just cooked and warmed up in the laundry room. There were poor people with them, they didn't even have a rucksack, there were small children, they had them on their backs in a box, the house was often full. During the night I cooked flour pasta for the poor children, and groups came during the night. "

In 2009 she was posthumously awarded a certificate of honor from the Jewish Agency for Israel . Doraja Eberle from the ÖVP announced in 2007 that the State of Salzburg was planning to award a Liesl-Geisler Prize for Humanity. Eberle's response to an inquiry in the state parliament in 2009 revealed that the preparations for a “Salzburg Humanitarian Award” should be completed by the end of 2010, although it was still open whether the award should bear her name. In October 2010, however, Eberle announced her resignation.
