Liliana Amon , called Bibiana (born as Maria Liliana Brandstetter on June 23, 1892 in Linz ; died after 1939), married Leithoff, married Schwab, was an Austrian writer and inspiration. She served as a model for Egon Schiele and was portrayed literarily by Robert Musil and Franz Werfel .

Life

Liliana Amon was born on June 23, 1892 as "Maria (Liliana)" as the illegitimate child of the seamstress Caecilia Brandstetter (born June 17, 1869) and the tailor Josef Amon (born May 22, 1843 Klagenfurt ). She was baptized on June 24th in the St. Josef parish in Linz (today: Holy Family). On June 19, 1897 she was "legitimized", that is: the father had himself entered in the baptismal register as the father. From 1909 at the latest, she lived in Vienna , where she stated the professions “painter”, “commercial student”, “correspondent” and “singer” on the registration forms. In 1909 she worked as a model for Egon Schiele in his studio in Alserbachstrasse in the 9th district. On August 9, 1910, she gave birth to a daughter in the Lower Austrian building, whom she named Liliana Marie and who was given up for adoption. The facts compiled by Walter Schübler indicate that Schiele was not the father. But Amon was probably the model for the drawings of a pregnant woman - the so-called "gynecological watercolors".

Liliana Amon occasionally frequented Viennese coffee houses and got involved at the regulars' table at Café Herrenhof . That earned her the acquaintance of Ernst Polak , Milena Jesenská , Gina Kaus , Otto Gross , Muhammad Asad , Albert Ehrenstein , Otto Soyka , Peter Altenberg and Franz Werfel. She was temporarily engaged to Anton Kuh - he called her "the radiant one" and gave himself ten commandments with which he hoped to secure her attention:

“1) I'm not supposed to talk to other people about the relationship] with B [ibiana]

2) I'm not supposed to lie.

3) I should become more aesthetic.

4) I am supposed to listen to a lecture on the word "ethics" from a therapist.

5.) I should listen every day to see if mom has to eat.

6) I should think about the day u. Night how I make it possible to get inhibitions.

7.) I shouldn't forget to respect B [ibiana].

8.) I shouldn't share my dirty thoughts with my beautiful [1 word illegible] friend, but swallow them.

9.) I should think seriously how I can best help the B [ibiana] in life

10.) I should be mindful of my deep sense of guilt when waking up and Before going to bed, give me 2 Tetschn (together 4) with all my energy and strength. "

Robert Musil may have used it as a model for Alpha in Vinzenz and the girlfriend of important men (1924). In Karl Tschuppik's autobiographical novel A Son from a Good Home (1937) she appears as ›Bibi‹. In Franz Werfel's novel Barbara or die Piety (1929) she is depicted as ›Angelica‹.

In 1910 she appeared publicly at a reading of literary works. In 1920 she made her debut in Berlin as an actress and lives with the graphic artist, painter and translator Eduard Schiemann . In 1923 she was engaged by a theater in Vienna. In 1925 she married the actor Eberhard Leithoff .

In 1929 she married the Jewish businessman Hans Ludwig Schwab (born December 6, 1895 in Darmstadt , probably died in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in 1942) in Berlin . She later emigrated to Paris , where in 1939 she published Barrières, an autobiographical key novel, the German manuscript of which is now lost.
