Lilium akkusianum is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Candidum section . It was only discovered in 1993 by Ernst Gügel and Heinz-Werner Zaiss andfirst described by René Gämperle in 1998 .

description

Lilium akkusianum reaches a height of 80 cm to 140 (180) cm. The onion is ovate to broadly elliptical, up to 60 millimeters high and 55 millimeters wide; the individual scales are numerous and loose, narrowly ovate-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate and cream-colored.

The olive to yellow-green stem is straight and hairless, the numerous leaves, with woolly hair on the edge and base, are lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, up to 21 centimeters long and 3.5 cm wide. They are alternately distributed around the stem.

The buds of the plant are woolly hairy, the plant blooms in June and July with 1 to 6, rarely up to 25 flowers in a cluster of nodding to pendulous flowers. The flowers are bell-shaped, up to 6 cm long and 10 cm in diameter and smell soapy of lemon. The spatula-shaped petals are rolled back. The basic color of the flowers is ivory to pale yellow with fine purple dots and a yellow throat, occasionally tinged with purple. The anthers are orange, the pollen a strong orange-red. The stamens are whitish green.

Lilium akkusianum is endemic to the south and southeast of the Turkish city ​​of Akkuş in beech forests , on the edges of the forest, on meadows and on hedges at altitudes between 1100 and 1500 m. Currently only four locations of the species with a total of a few hundred specimens are known.
