Lilium sargentiae ( Chinese  瀘定 百合  / 泸定 百合 , Pinyin Lúdìng bǎihé ) (Syn .: Lilium omeiense ) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the trumpet lily section .

description

Lilium sargentiae reaches a height of 45 cm to 160 cm. The bulbs are rounded and can reach a diameter of up to 15 cm, they are covered with purple scales. The stem is papillae . The leaves are narrow and lanceolate, between 5.5 cm and 12 cm long and 1 cm to 3 cm wide. They are distributed around the stem and, similar to Lilium sulphureum, form axillary bulbs in the leaf axils. In contrast to those of Lilium sulphureum , these are green.

The plant blooms from June to August with a single or two to four trumpet- shaped flowers standing horizontally in an umbel with a sweet, strong scent. The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The six identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) are rolled back at the tip and are 14 to 17 cm long and between 2 cm and 2.8 cm wide. The basic color of the flowers is pure white, overflowing with yellowish green towards the base and a purple tone on the outside. The anthers are about 15 mm long and, like the pollen, brown, the filaments are up to 13 cm long and fluffy. The ovary is purple and the stylus about 11 cm long. The seeds ripen in 6 cm to 7 cm long, elongated seed capsules by October and germinate immediately and epigeously .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

distribution

Lilium sargentiae needs a well-drained, loamy soil in partial shade, they grow best on the edges of thickets and grassy slopes at altitudes between 500 and 2000  m .

The species is native to the Sichuan province in the People's Republic of China , plants have been found sporadically in Yunnan , but they may have been introduced.
