The Danish motor ferry Lillebjørn connects Faaborg with the island of Bjørnø in the Danish South Pacific . It is operated by the private Andelsselskabet Bjørnøfærge , founded on August 31, 1993 .
The operating company was founded by the islanders in order to organize the ferry departures according to their time specifications such as starting work on Funen or starting school times for schoolchildren. Unlike other passengers, islanders travel for free. Since 2018, free transport has been available for all users in the months of May and September.
The crossing time is 17 minutes. Seats cannot be pre-booked on the ferry. Groups with more than ten people should still be registered in advance. If there are more people than there are passenger seats, the ferry drives until all people have been transported, with scheduled departures being observed. On weekdays the ship makes up to ten tours in summer, five times on Saturdays and four times on Sundays. Separate tariffs apply to freight, cars and agricultural vehicles.
Since the ferry is not an excursion boat, passengers on the island must always get off. If there are still places available on the return trip, you can get on again. In any case, priority will be given to those waiting for the scheduled departure.
