The Limbomaniacs were an American rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area who combined rock and metal with influences from funk and hip-hop from 1982 onwards.

Career

On their only album, Stinky Grooves , which was released through Columbia in 1990 , guests included Bootsy Collins , Maceo Parker and Timothy "T-Bone" David. It was produced by Bill Laswell . Butt Funkin ' with Collins as singer and Shake It with David as percussionist have been released as singles. During the recording, the band Laswell drew attention to the guitarist Buckethead , whose debut album Bucketheadland Collins finally produced in 1992. That same year, Laswell, Mantia, Collins and Buckethead also collaborated on Praxis' debut album .

Stinky Grooves also got good reviews outside of the USA, so the Musikexpress wrote in February 1991, the album should not ignore rock or funk freaks and awarded 5 out of 6 possible stars. Lauren Spencer called it a great party album on SPIN . Alex Henderson wrote on Allmusic : One of the better funk-rock releases of the early '90s , but also a CD that should have enjoyed much recognition, but sadly, was all but ignored.

In January 2010 there was a reunion after 18 years at a charity event. A new song called Shock to the System was released on Myspace in January 2010 .

After the dissolution

Bryan Mantia worked from 1992 on various projects with Bill Laswell and Buckethead, later he was a member of Primus and Guns N 'Roses . He also worked with Serj Tankian and Tom Waits . Anthony Chaba founded the duo Ben Wa with Eric Ware in 1997, with most of the members of the Limbomaniacs participating in their debut Devil Dub . Marc Haggard founded his own band called MIRV and Pete Scaturro, who is still associated with Mantia and Buckethead, now works in the management of Sony Music .
