Lina Romay (singer)
Lina Romay (born January 16, 1919 in New York City , † December 17, 2010 in Pasadena , California ; actually Elena Maria Romay ) was an American singer and actress .
Life
Romay, daughter of an attaché at the Mexican consulate in Los Angeles, first appeared in the entertainment business in the early 1940s as a singer with the Xavier Cugat Orchestra. Along with Cugat and his orchestra was it 1942 in the film You were never captivating ( You Were Never Lovelier ) next to Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth to see what led to follow-on investments as an actress, as in man without a heart ( Adventure ) with Clark Gable and Greer Garson . She also appeared in television shows until 1957. B. on The Red Skelton Show . Then she retired from the film business.
From the late 1970s on, she also worked as a Spanish-speaking radio announcer for horse racing.
