Linda Harrison (born July 24, 1945 in Berlin , Maryland ) is an American film actress and model .

Linda was voted "Miss Berlin" at the age of 16 and was soon able to work as a model in the New York Garment Center . Homesickness was the reason for her return to Berlin, where she won the state beauty pageant . She was discovered by talent scout Mike Medavoy at the "Miss International" finale, which took place in Long Beach , California , and was introduced to 20th Century Fox soon after .

Small roles in low-budget films followed before her breakthrough in Franklin J. Schaffner's science fiction film Planet of the Apes in 1968 . She also played the role of the mute woman Nova in the sequel Return to the Planet of the Apes , which was produced in 1970 .

Through her work at Fox, she met the film producer Richard D. Zanuck , whom she married in 1968. However, the marriage ended in divorce after 10 years. The two have two sons.

Despite the divorce, Linda was able to continue to act in Zanuck's films. The best known were Cocoon (1985), the sequel Cocoon II - The Return (1988) and the remake Planet of the Apes (2001). In the film, she and Charlton Heston were the only two actors who had appeared in the 1968 film.

Today Linda Harrison lives in seclusion in the USA.
