action
The aliens return to earth with the three senior couples (see Cocoon ) for a short time. The reason is impending seaquakes, which could endanger the lives of their fellow species in the cocoons off the coast. While the fun-loving old people frolic in their old surroundings with vigor, one of the cocoons is discovered by researchers and brought to the Oceanic Institute. The seniors actively help with the liberation campaign, but when it comes to the return to the home planet, only two seniors come with us. Others prefer a finite life with their families and friends.
Awards
Hume Cronyn, Jack Gilford, Jessica Tandy and the film for Best Science Fiction Film were nominated for the Saturn Award in 1990.
Reviews
“Tragic comedy interwoven with an exciting science fiction story, which makes the joys of the evening tangible without any sentimentality. The playfulness of the actors far exceeds the ingenuity of conventional directing. "
