history

The exact age of the place Lindelbach cannot be determined, but the area around the village was already settled at the time of the so-called linear ceramic band. A soil monument was located northeast of today's town center . In the Bronze Age, the place was still inhabited, and objects from the Latène Age were also unearthed during excavations . In the course of the Frankish conquest in the area around the Main, the village was then moved to its current location.

The Franks also brought Christianization to the region. Lindelbach was equipped with a so-called baptistery early on, which was reinforced in the 12th century with the Romanesque tower that is still present today . In 1542 the congregation converted to the Lutheran creed, Lindelbach is still evangelical today. In 1975 the municipality merged with the neighboring village of Randersacker to form the new municipality of Randersacker.

Attractions

The Evangelical Lutheran parish church forms the center of the village . It presents itself as a hall with a retracted choir and an eastern tower with a pointed helmet between the nave and the choir. The choir was built in its present form in the 15th century. In Lindelbachstraße there are still a few houses, most of which date from the 19th century. The old village fountain is also located here. The area around the village is characterized by shell limestone quarries.
