Lindenberg is a district of the town of Buchloe in the Ostallgäu district with 1646 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2016).
history
The name Lindenberg comes from the mountain that used to be overgrown with linden trees and on which the church of St. Georg and Wendelin stands today.
The place Lindenberg comes from the property of the Lords of Ursin-Ronsberg . The heap village , formerly the parish seat, is two kilometers south of Buchloe.
On July 1, 1971, the previously independent community of Lindenberg was incorporated into the city of Buchloe.
Church of St. Georg and St. Wendelin
A round arch church was mentioned in a document as early as 1589. Today's St. Georg and St. Wendelin Church was built on the remains of the wall. In 1676 a new sacristy was added in place of the one in the church tower. Until 1685 the 35 m high church tower had a pointed roof. It was replaced by an onion dome, as tradition has it that a lightning bolt split the church tower. Significant structural changes were made in 1745 when the flat ceiling was replaced by a vault. By 1749 it was equipped with a new altar , a pulpit and two side altars as well as Rococo fresco paintings. In the years 1842/43 a redesign in the neo-Romanesque style began with choir stalls, door portals and sculptures , which was reversed 100 years later by Pastor Karl Heichele by adding new altars and other furnishings - partly from other churches - in the baroque style were procured. In 1974/75 there was an exterior and interior renovation.
She got the first bell in 1594, a second larger one was added in 1766. This shattered in 1881 and was renewed. In the world wars, all bells, except the smallest, were melted down. Nikolaus 1951 the bell was complete again. After four years of renovation work on the tower and bell cage, all four bells have been ringing together again since July 27, 2008.
