The line 8 ( "magenta line") of the Delhi Metro is part of the metro system of the Indian capital Delhi. It consists of 25 stations (phase III) from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden. Line 8 (Magenta Line) will also connect Terminal 1D at Indira Gandhi International Airport directly to the metro system.

The line largely follows the Outer Ring Road and is designed as a ring line. In a later expansion phase (phase IV) it is to be extended to the north.

history

The progress of the work on the route was 98.73 percent complete in November 2017. The line was originally supposed to be completed in December 2016, but delays were mainly due to difficulties in acquiring land. Trial operation began in August 2017. The opening will then take place in two sections: The first section from Botanical Garden to Kalkaji Mandir was opened on December 25, 2017. The further route was officially put into operation on May 28, 2018. General operation for the public began on May 29, 2018. This means that the entire route from phase III is in operation.

However, leaving the station is only permitted with an appropriate access permit to the military area.
